Import customer data

Prepare a CSV and decide where each column belongs before Liteo creates records.

Use a CSV import when you already have customer records in a spreadsheet or another system. The mapping step lets you decide what each source column means before anything is created.

Prepare the file

Keep one record per row and one kind of information per column. Use clear headers such as First name, Work email, Business, and Phone.

Remove totals, empty title rows, and notes that aren't customer records. Keep a copy of the original file outside Liteo.

Choose the record type

Import people as contacts and companies as businesses. If your contact file includes a company name, Liteo can link the person to that business during import.

Choose the job’s default sales status explicitly. A mapped sales-status column can override that default for individual rows.

Map every column

For each source column, choose a built-in field, an existing custom field, tags, or skip. Create a custom field only when the information will be useful after the import.

Note

Don't create a custom field for every column just because the data exists. Old export IDs and temporary spreadsheet notes usually make records harder to read.

Review the result

Open a few imported records and check names, email addresses, phone numbers, business links, and sales status. Fix the mapping before running another file if the same mistake appears more than once.
